Dear Maddy,

If you found your way to this page, then I've got good news and bad news.  The good news is that it looks like time travel is possible.  The bad news, is that I really didn't intend for it to work yet.  I am doing a quick test of some of the algorithms I recently developed, but I thought I better write this note, in case something goes wrong or right, depending on your point of view.

Hopefully what went right is that I am somewhere in time.  What may have gone wrong, is that I can't get back without help.  I wish I could tell you that you just need to press a button or talk to someone and tell them what happened, but it's not that easy.  My ideas are pretty radical, so I don't think asking for help directly will work and it might make things more difficult.  I know this is a lot to ask of you, but I really need your help.

If my ideas worked out, it means time travel is both easier, yet much more mind-boggling than we ever thought possible.  I can't explain all the science that goes into it, but I can tell you that the "time machine" is built on a whole series of ideas developed and tested throughout history.  It's those ideas in time that you need to discover and understand yourself in order to help me.

I really can't give you any more information right now, except to guide you on your journey of discovery.  I encourage you to ask others for their help, but remember that it is you who really needs to grasp these new concepts in order to help me.  I know this is a lot to ask of you, but I know you can do it.

Love,
Mom
