How can you get involved?

Charlottesville Women in Tech and Tech-Girls provide lots of ways to get involved with the local community.

CWIT

CWIT runs and prospers thanks to the time and talents of many members of our community. Even if you don't have much time or the ability to make a long-term commitment, you can still help CWIT thrive!

We are actively seeking volunteers in:

• accounting   
• event planning
• graphic design
• PR/Marketing
• photography
• social media

Tech-Girls

Tech-Girls is all about empowering girls to imagine and achieve their future dreams in our tech-savvy world. We work with girls in Kindergarten through high school, providing hands-on activities that engage their natural curiosity about technology fields. We work with partners and educators to provide training, resources and relationships needed to support and help participants continue their tech exploration.

We are actively seeking volunteers to:

• Lead or support hands-on activities (elementary, middle school or high school)
• Be a mentor at a mentorship event with high school students
• Join the Tech-Girls subcommittee

Organizations we actively collaborate with

• Charlottesville Women in Tech Sponsors  - annual sponsorship supports our meetups, book clubs, Tech-Girls programming and other events we offer or collaborate on.
  
• Charlottesville Business Innovation Council (CBIC) - with a mission to educate, celebrate and advocate for Charlottesville’s technology community and to accelerate technology innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.
• Charlottesville Computer Science Community - a research-practice partnership (RPP) between the School of Education, CS Department and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia, the Charlottesville City Public Schools, and after-school non-profits Tech-Girls and C4K.
• C4K- with a mission to improve low income youth’s computer and learning skills through caring mentorship, structured training, a vibrant learning environment, and access to a computer at home.
• UVA Biomedical Engineering - partners with Tech-Girls to host and support Bio-Med Tech-Girls, a week-long summer program to immerse young women in high school in with the latest tech happening in the field of BME.
