We are Supporting Women In Tech in CHarlottesville, so it’s time to SWITCH ON the energy, strength, and empowerment of women who are trailblazing their paths in the tech world.

This two-part conference is focused on igniting your professional tech network. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn, collaborate, and network with local women and tech community leaders. The morning session is open to all community members for presentations and discussions on the status, needs, and accomplishments of women in the Charlottesville technology community. The afternoon session is set up for a women-only workshop focused on hands-on activities for augmenting your professional network and career opportunities.

Morning Session – Open to all
8:30am – 12:00pm

  • What is the state of women in tech in Virginia? What have we accomplished?
  • What are the obstacles women face joining tech? How can we support an increase in women joining?
  • What can companies and community members do to support women in the workplace?
  • What kind of journeys have local women encountered within their tech careers?  Sharing our stories and ideas is key to achieving our goals.

Speakers include:  Kathy Galvin, Charlottesville City Council; Pamela Norris, Executive Dean UVA Engineering School; and Gwen Murphy, Executive Director, KPMG Global Lead Business Technology Services

Afternoon Session – Open to Women (tech or non-tech, all women welcome)
12:00pm – 5:30pm

Lunch and afternoon reception included!
This afternoon workshop features a deep-dive into the tools, skills, and strategies that will allow attendees to craft their optimal network in the Charlottesville Tech Community. Participants will join cohorts that will work together and rotate between learning stations. These stations include:

  • Tech tools for professional networking: led by a LinkedIn expert
  • Social media tools for professional branding
  • Github as a resource for technical self-promotion
  • Open source projects to enhance learning and professional connections
  • Overview of Charlottesville tech community resources: the best groups to seek out for building your local network

Prices include validated parking at Market Street Garage.
Afternoon tickets include lunch and wine reception.
